to cut a deal today, by the time he was back on capitol hill, if shawn kennedy or rachel maddow did not like it, switchboards light up. it makes it difficult for members. one other factor has come in. these are not what i would call efforts to bring us together. these make it more difficult to get things, rise. if a speaker were to go off and cut a deal, if rachel maddow did not like it, member's phones light up like a christmas tree. it makes it difficult for members. there is one other fact that is not talked about as much but it's equally important. that is the fact that campaign financing has changed. we have passed landmark campaign finance reform. i did not vote for it, i am happy to say. the difficulty with that is its tries to take money out of politics. it limited money to parties who limited how they could make money. that money did not disappear from the political process. it moved and now it is out in super pacs. you have more money now coming from third-party groups then you do from political parties and candidates combined. what does that mean in the mind of a policy m

. you addressed the issue of what happens next, i saw you on rachel's show friday. your theory are it's key to how the fiscal cliff plays out. explain. >> there's a significant difference of opinion in the political ramification of what happens if we go over and it comes down debt ceiling. if we go over the fiscal cliff they have all of the leverage because we'll go into the debt ceiling and it will be just like 2011 again. they'll say we're not going to raise the debt ceiling unless you cut entitlements, barack obama will say no and terrified of consequences of national default he'll say yes. so they'll get all of the entitlement cuts with no tax increases on the table. democrats disagree. they will not, under any circumstance, no matter what republicans do, negotiate over the debt ceiling again. they'll break the habit now. if we go to the debt ceiling they'll say we're not talking about this, if you want to have a deal on entitlements, that will have to be matched one to one with tax increases, again, with tax reform. if they do that say democrats get $600 billion in tax increases

about kept begging her and it ended up being the last thing she wore. there is also rachel divino and her boyfriend was going to propose and christmas eve. beater, thank you very much. peter doocy. the church in newtown will be the host of 10 funerals this week and next week. it reminds me of 9/11 when we saw multiple funerals taking place in local churches in this area. very, very hard for these communities. bill: you can't hit a golf ball or throw a snowball in this town without hitting a church of some denomination. faith is so important to the people who live in newtown. there is a makeshift memorial. there are many of them set up throughout town. this is the area where they set up 26 christmas trees over the weekend. and nower in allowing people from the community to walk the half mile down this road to place flowers or lay a wreath or hang an ornament. this is the closest you can get to the elementary school. you have to go 100 yard down dickinson lane and peel to the right in the parking lot before the school reveals in front of you. this is how we grieve and this is how so
